The Ministry of Health (MOH) in Singapore introduced the death of a 28-year-old Bangladeshi man, likely associated to a Covid-19 vaccine. He died away 21 days after receiving the Moderna/Spikevax vaccine. The State Coroner has confirmed that the reason for demise was myocarditis, an irritation of the center muscle.
The MOH has also acknowledged that the man’s dying was a “medical misadventure” with the State Coroner’s official report suggesting the probability of the vaccine being a cause;
“On the steadiness of possibilities, it was more doubtless to be related to Covid-19 vaccination”.
This is the first dying associated to Covid vaccination in Singapore.
Despite the unlucky incident, the MOH has reassured the common public that the incidence of myocarditis stays uncommon with reporting charges of zero.1 per a hundred,000 doses for the bivalent vaccines and 1.1 per a hundred,000 doses for the first vaccination collection of the monovalent vaccines. The ministry reminded the public that there has only been one dying despite millions of vaccines given.
“To date, more than 17 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Singapore via the National Vaccination Programme.”
The household of the deceased will obtain a one-time monetary help of S$225,000 (about 5.eight million baht) under the Vaccine Injury Financial Assistance Programme supplied by MOH. The ministry is also working with the Ministry of Manpower to extend help to the household and facilitate their application.
Since September 2021, vaccinated people are advised to chorus from intense physical activity or train for 2 weeks after vaccination as a precautionary measure to scale back the possible danger of myocarditis.
“People with chest discomfort, abnormal heartbeats or another symptoms that come up after vaccination, ought to seek medical attention promptly. Members only will allow early analysis and appropriate medical administration of any uncommon extreme adverse occasions which will happen after vaccination.”
The Expert Committee on Covid Vaccination and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) will be observing vaccine-related critical adverse occasions carefully. Accredited by the HSA has proven that the incidence of myocarditis is rare, and the MOH is confident in the safety of the vaccines..
